The completed restoration works by M/Group of the original S.E.C Building and former Western Power’s Energy Museum at the Fremantle Substation site in Parry Street, is another example of how M/Group has worked effectively with the City of Fremantle and State Heritage Council to support the integration of valuable heritage fabric into contemporary urban living.
The property, which sits adjacent to a boutique Match apartment development that overlooks parkland at its rear, has been released for sale under an Expression of Interest (EOI) campaign; opening the door for a range of potential uses.
Mr Lloyd Clark, Managing Director of M/Group, said the apartments on this site are already 35% sold, and the renewed heritage building will be on a separate green title. Boutique apartment company, Match, has introduced a new project that offers a parkside location, with easy access to the energy of Fremantle.

On Saturday 14 October at 11am, Leederville’s newest architectural icon and local tribute building will officially open in a ceremony led by the family and descendants of the original site owner, who built a soft drink empire and created a Western Australian legacy.
M/24 by Match in Carr Place Leederville is inspired by the site’s former occupant, Golden West Aerated Water Company, which was established around 1902 by Mr Jack James Wallis (known as J. J. Wallis) to produce soft drinks of various kinds, such as ginger beer, lemonade and kola beer.
The property is mixed-use development consisting of 39 residential apartments and four commercial units on the ground floor with a feature façade that was inspired by the building’s former use, and generated by the digital modelling of patterns formed when bubbles intersect. The dynamic patterns – known as ‘Voronoi’ tessellations – give the impression of a form bubbling out of the site.
M/Group Managing Director, Mr Lloyd Clark, said the unique concept and tribute to history has attracted a great deal of attention from the community and clearly indicates a thirst for edgy product that enhances the streetscape and tells a story.

Boutique property company, Match, has recorded around $13million in off-the-plan apartment sales from a single Fremantle-based apartment complex, M/28, which sold out after only six months on the market.
M/28 is a mixed-use complex comprising of just 20 boutique apartments on the popular South Terrace coffee strip. The building is deliberately designed to present as understated with naturally inspired materials and palette, which take inspiration from the Fremantle culture and nearby heritage-listed Seaview Hotel.
Mr Lloyd Clark, Managing Director of Match parent company, M/Group, said he is not surprised by the overwhelming interest in the apartments and believes Match’s approach of designing product to a specific market has the potential to cut through all market conditions.

Construction on M/28 is scheduled to commence in mid-2017 with completion in late 2018.
